Driving Directions to Bear Creek Outdoor Centre

From Ottawa, Kingston and Other Parts East

  1. Follow Hwy 17 west past Arnprior, and Renfrew. Just past Renfrew there is an exit on the right to Storyland road.
  2. Take Storyland Road down and around until it stops at “the four corners” JR’s gas and country store will be on your rightat the stop sign.
  3. Turn right and go over the bridges at Cheneaux , past Portage du Fort and continue until you reach a stop at the “T” junction (you would run into the Ultramar gas station if you did not stop). This is Hwy 148.
  4. Turn Left and follow 148 past Bryson to Campbell’s Bay.
  5. Turn right at the 301 Junction (flashing amber light) and follow 301 north approximately 11.5 km.
  6. You are looking for Crawford Road on the left (lots of cottage signs, one says Rainville)
  7. Follow Crawford road approximately 6 km. At approximately 6 km you will go over a bridge and make a curve to the left with the road.
  8. Turn left on Burke Road (large lane way opening sign says Bear Creek Outdoor Centre)
  9. Follow Burke road for 1 km and take the left fork.
  10. Follow the left fork for 0.5 km and you will see a cabin on a small lake down to the right. This is the camp office and director’s house. You may continue past the cabin and over to the classroom and meeting area.

From Toronto, North Bay, Peterborough, and Other Parts West

  1. Come through Pembroke (located on Hwy 17 between Ottawa and North Bay)
  2. Take Hwy 41 into Pembroke and follow the signs into town. Turn right (east) on Pembroke Street East. Head out of town (you will pass the East end mall, Wallmart etc.)
  3. Follow the signs marking to the Province of Quebec and follow Hwy 148 over to the Quebec side of the Ottawa River. From Pembroke your driving time is approximately an hour to Bear Creek Outdoor Centre.
  4. Follow Hwy 148 through Waltham,Fort Colounge, and Vinton to Campbell’s Bay. At Campbell’s Bay there is a flashing amber light at the junction to Hwy 301.
  5. Turn left at the 301 Junction and follow 301 north approximately 11.5 km.
