Is your teen ready for the next step in their adventure? Focused on youth development for ages 15-17, ALT campers will learn hands-on skills to prepare them to be leaders in the camping and outdoor adventure industry and in life. This all gender program is designed to build confidence and to empower teens to fully embrace their unique impact on their community and the world around them.
Adventure Leadership Training provides opportunities for participants to focus on cooperative learning in a program designed to develop proficiencies in the skills necessary to be a confident outdoor leader. Strategies are developed to build a young leader’s “toolbox” with an emphasis on teaching, instruction and teamwork skills. ALT participants will receive training and certification in Wilderness First Aid and Canoe camping. The ALT program is expeditionary in nature and participants will spend most of their time out of camp on an extended canoe trip and field excursions. ALT participants will learn the skills necessary to design and execute a wilderness canoe trip as a team. Experienced outdoor educators will facilitate the ALT program and act as constant role models throughout the journey of this 2 week program.
***Volunteer positions may be offered to select ALT participants in our 1 week camps. This is a great way for our leadership participants to practice their skills and earn volunteer hours.
